A multi-part EPIC battle in the throne room of Grugnur, Lord of Frost Giants in the middle of his Christmas Wassail inside G2 -The Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl.
In these two videos we go through the spell preparations for Obscura, Antola, and Faoltiarna in detail and anticipation of the massive battle in the throne room of Grugnur, Lord of the Frost Giants!
Let’s design the throne room encounter for G2, The Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl. Grugnur, Lord of the Frost Giants has a Christmas wassail in full swing with visiting dignitaries, generals, and ambassadors.
In this behind the scenes show, we create these key enemies from scratch, talk about the balance, stat choices, pay respects to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3.5, Pathfinder, 4th, and 5th edition books as we custom tailor the details to maximize personality, challenge, and fear!
Let's do a quick and dirty jungle rocky coastline, inspired by a small section of the ruins of Tulum and the Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan. Module C2. Tulum is the site of a pre-Columbian Mayan walled city situated on 40-foot tall cliffs along the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea.
Learn about the Paladin, one of the original and core melee classes in the 1st edition!
We continue our detailed look at the magic of 1st edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons by running through the core melee class of all time - Fighter!
The fighter is the foundation for all classes from all RPGs and CRPGs. From Ultima Online to EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, Asheron's Call, EverQuest 2, Neverwinter, Guild Wars 1 & 2, Tera, Black Desert Online, Warhammer Online, and yes, even World of Warcraft. Every game owes a debt of gratitude to one column of text on page 22 of the Player's Handbook.
Our party deals with the Ogre Magi, right on the edge of the throne room. Mercede ends up charmed and things get chaotic fast!
Video part 4 is up of the Classic_DM video series, 1st Edition AD&D for New Players. This time we look at the incredible creativity and area of effect nastiness of the Druid class.
This is a laid back look giving 5e players who maybe never played 4th, 3.5, Pathfinder, or even 2nd edition a sense of the magic of 1st edition, originally released 40 years ago in 1978! Trying to get your hard core MMO World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Neverwinter Nights, Black Desert Online, or old school EverQuest players to come learn where it all began. Point them here!
Obscura uses her invisibility spell to scout deeper into the icy caverns and stumbles into the Frost Giant Jarl, Grugnur's winter festival in full swing. Things get nasty quick as an Ogre Magi, blasts the group with a narrow Cone of Cold after charming Mercede.
Our party sets up a kill zone and wipes out multiple Frost Giant reinforcements, but something concealed in the shadows drifts right past them and no one even takes a second glance!
What escaped the sharp mind of Obscura, the prowess of Elafonissi, or the wilderness instincts of Faoltiarna? We'll soon see, as Obscura prepares to scout south into the southern caverns under the guise of her invisibility spell, her Giant Slayer longsword humming in her mind acting as a translator.
This could go very wrong.
How I built my Battle Glass and all the player and enemy tokens for the Classic_DM show. This video talks about all the details, walks you through the steps on how I made everything, and may inspire you to put your twist on things too!
The final section of the throne room in G2 - The Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl.
In this live map drawing session, we design and draw the east side of throne room from the Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl.
We're almost ready for the biggest battle on the Classic_DM show yet!
This is a big room! Breaking it down into quadrants. Enjoy this live sketch session.
Epic battle coming soon! Keep your eyes peeled on the Classic_DM You Tube Channel.
Thanks to Table Top Generals for stocking the giant sized raid quality Reaper Minis. We tossed a fast paint job on these to get them on the board!
Who sits on the throne of the Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl? Check inside the cool bag of loot I bought from Table Top Generals! Cool store! Awesome owner and really slick selection of RPG stuff, Wargames, Warhammer, and Warlord stuff. Always support your local shop! They help keep the games we love alive.
In this video we open up some cool Reaper Minis, check out the giants and the Drow we picked up and of course toss on some sloppy base colors like a happy kid!
The other day I was chatting with a young coworker who loves D&D 5E, plays online with friends using roll20, but had no idea how cool 1st edition was. This series kicks off my evangelism to the forgotten beauty and simplicity of the 1st edition of Dungeons & Dragons, which back then was called Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.
It's 40 years since the Player's Handbook hit my hobby shop's shelf, so as a fun side venture, here's a new video series.
We tackle the most boring room in the lower caverns of the Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl, and perform chicken scratch CPR.
What was once a 3 sentence entry typed up in 14 seconds becomes a major tactical space for our show’s climax, but only after we put the time and energy into designing it!
In our last Episode of Season 2, entitled "The Horn," our party drove back multiple sets of Frost Giant guards, but some escaped deeper in the lower caverns and alerted their comrades. The group decides to pull back, and now face four options as to how to handle the impending onslaught.
